Today, we’re answering some of the most frequently asked questions about our biobanking services. From our certifications and storage conditions to sample management and retrieval, we’re here to address your concerns and support your research every step of the way.
What does sample reception entail?
Upon receipt at Firalis Molecular Precision, samples undergo thorough inspection and registration in our database, where all relevant details are recorded and saved in our SLIMS.
Each sample is assigned a unique ID and allocated a specific location, ensuring precise tracking throughout its storage duration.
Do you offer a long-term sample storage option?
We offer both short-term and long-term sample storage options as part of our services.
Your valuable samples can be stored at temperatures ranging from -150°C to 4°C in our biobanking facility, ensuring optimal preservation for both short-term needs during a research project and long-term storage for future use.
Firalis Molecular Precision is equipped with backup generators to ensure that our refrigerators and freezers continue to operate in case of a power failure, maintaining the safety and integrity of your samples. We follow strict protocols to guarantee that your samples are securely stored and preserved, regardless of storage duration or external conditions.
What types of sample matrices do you work with?
Firalis Molecular Precision works with a wide range of biological matrices, including blood, plasma, serum, urine, saliva, tissue biopsies, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), and other bodily fluids.
For more complex matrices, such as tissue biopsies and CSF, we have developed specialized protocols to ensure high-quality extraction of DNA, RNA, proteins, lipids, and metabolites.
Additionally, Firalis Molecular Precision offers customized solutions for handling fresh, frozen, and fixed samples, ensuring that your research needs are met with precision and reliability across diverse sample types.
Can I perform the sample preparation myself, such as DNA or RNA extraction, or can I rely on your team for this process?
We offer flexibility in sample preparation.
You can choose to perform the extraction of DNA, RNA, or proteins from your samples yourself, and simply send us the extracted analytes.
Alternatively, if you prefer, our team can handle the extraction process for you. We provide expert extraction services for RNA, DNA, and proteins from various matrices, both liquid and solid, with precise quantification and integrity assessment after extraction.
We accept both options and are happy to work with you based on your preference and project requirements.
How long do you hold samples?
We store samples for up to 3 months, with the option to extend the storage period upon request.
If you require longer storage, please contact us directly, and we’ll be happy to accommodate your needs.
Are your sample storage and management services certified for quality assurance?
Our sample storage and management services are certified under ISO 20387:2018.
This certification ensures the quality and competence of our biobanking processes, including the collection, storage, and management of biological samples.
By adhering to ISO 20387 standards, we guarantee the reliability, integrity, and traceability of your samples, providing you with the confidence needed for your research and clinical studies.
